Family and an part-time degree course
Before the course starts it is recommended to discuss a few matters with your family. An part-time degree requires a great deal of discipline, perfect time management and above average motivation - from all parties.
A few thoughts:
"Those who want to study part-time should be confident and be able to deal with stress. You must have the desire to see things through. In addition there are planning skills, the ability to think ahead and a healthy level of egoism. What you must not forget is the ability to listen at home. A degree course beginner must be able to deal with time management. Be proactive not reactive!"
(Walter Draxl, MD and owner, ETB Industrie-Service GmbH, 4th Semester Bachelor-degree in engineering, part-time)
"It is important to set yourself a target. This makes motivation much easier. Qualities such as ambition, a talent for organising and being focused are necessary. It is important to focus on the curriculum."
(Sasha Petschnig, Product and Project manager, Franke, at present taking the part-time Master's degree Controlling & Finance)
"My family comes first"
Andreas Lauterer, B.Sc., has a lot of experience with time management. Alongside the job and a family he completed the examination enabling him to study and then completed his Bachelor's degree in engineering. Today he is the personnel manager at the local hospital in Bregenz and has started a Master's degree in business specialising in Business Process Engineering Read more
"I never really felt the course was a burden, more a challenge. You simply have to prioritise. You need to be focused, and have discipline and good self-management from the word go".
(Martina Draxl, Human Resources Officer, Zumbtobel Lighting GmbH, graduate of Bachelor degree course International business)
