What is InterMedia at the FH Vorarlberg?
"Our students are dedicated heart and soul to design. You are here to find new ways of expressing your creativity and discovering new possibilities in conception and design. You are striving for a clear profile, which ideally realises your potential and gives you unique selling points in the rough media industry."
Prof. (FH) DI Heidi Weber, Head of the Degree Programme in InterMedia
Much is expected from media creators: creative concepts, high-quality design, ideal technology, reliability and cost consciousness – things that are taken for granted in the media market. But creative people want more. They want to discover new paths, create experimentally and originally. We give them room to do this.
The InterMedia degree programme offers three focuses that were modelled according to the requirements and the current developments of the media market:
• Corporate Communications
• Computer Graphics & Virtual Reality
• Arts & Science
Our students render exceptional design and conceptual performances on an academic level. We also make them qualified to become real advisors of our clients. That places them in the position to support the entire corporate communications of a company through all media and target groups - from the development of the corporate identity to appearances at trade fairs.
Holistic thinking - even beyond the order at hand - is one of the challenges that our students face every day. An example: Students with a specialisation in "Media Based Learning" think about not only the internet or CD-Rom in the creation of a learning programme. They also design accompanying measures such as quick-reference cards, specialisation seminars and introductory events.
Often, research is a subject of the courses. Scientific methods and interdisciplinary thinking open up innovative and efficient paths. Particularly in the master's thesis, students address research and development questions in the areas of design, media and art.
At the centre of the training concept is a focus on real life. In projects and workshops, students analyse complex responsibilities, develop concepts and implement them in media products. Lecturers offer impetus, methods and scientifically based knowledge thanks to their many years of experience in the media industry. Small study groups and individual support make the degree programme personal and intensive.
