For organizing a longer stay in another country, it is necessary to consider many different matters in advance.
Below we have summarized information which might answer some of your questions and which might be helpful when preparing your exchange semester at Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences.

Before Departure:
- Please check if you need a visa for entry and residence in Austria and apply for it as early as possible.
More Information about Visa and Conditions of Residence - Apply for or renew your passport. Make photocopies of it and leave one to someone reliable in your home country and take one with you in case the original gets lost or stolen.
- Apply for an international driving license, if you plan to drive a car in Austria.
- Don´t forget to inform your post office concerning your new address and/or make sure that your mail gets delivered to a family member or friend in the meantime.
- Bring along all important documents and items.
- Take care that you have the necessary documents pertaining to your insurance protection (private insurance documents or the E111 or E128 form, or the e-card).
- It is also recommended to get a travel insurance as well as a general liability insurance.
- Take care that you have enough cash for the time of your arrival and make sure you can get your money during your stay in Austria.
- If you bring electronic devices from your home country, make sure you bring adapter plugs, converters and transformers (e.g. from 110 to 220 volts) which match the Austrian standard - two round prongs and the electricity of 220 volts.
