Currency and means of payment

The official currency in Austria is the Euro. When arriving in Dornbirn it is useful to have some Euros available. Most stores accept common credit cards like VISA, MASTERCARD, and DINERS CLUB. Also, cash-cards/ATM cards (EC-Karten/Bankomat-Karten) are commonly used in shops. Cash-cards/ATM cards can be ordered when opening a local bank account. All ATM machines can be accessed with a European ATM card and a foreign credit card with a pin number. Please note that it is not possible to get cash advances with credit cards at the bank counter. 

 

 

Climate

Austria is located in a temperate climatic zone with a Central European climate influenced by the Atlantic climate. There are four seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter), with each season having a specific temperature and climatic character.
