Semester abroad and internship
Studying abroad
As part of the degree programme in Social Work, students have the option of completing the fourth semester at one of the many partner universities of the FH Vorarlberg.
The international network at the FH Vorarlberg has been continuously expanded in recent years so that a broad selection of student exchange places are ensured. The degree programme in Social Work offers partner universities in Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Italy and the US.
You will receive more detailed information about the subject of the semester abroad from the International Office.
In the summer semester, students from our partner universities spend a semester in Dornbirn. For this reason, above all in the fourth semester, we offer some courses in English. The special programme called "Social Work _ across Borders" is one semester with international flair in Dornbirn: The programme focuses on human rights, European and international social policies, intercultural dialogue and international Social Work.
Internships
We attach particular importance to training oriented on real life. For this reason, internships during the degree programme are very important.
In the second semester, you will orient yourself on a four-week internship (160 hours). The internship is completed in the fifth semester between September and February and lasts 15 weeks (525 hours). The goal of the internship is to test the future role of social work in a profession under supervision.
The orientation phase with its practical component as well as the internship are supported by the FH Vorarlberg through accompanying seminars and the institution. Previous internships will not be credited.
