Profile of the programme

The following focal points are offered in the 6 semesters:

  • fundamental ethical questions
  • societal, social and individual problematic situations
  • the social function of social work, values and goals, historical, theoretical and professional fundamentals, possibilities and limits
  • methods, ways of working and fundamentals of law
  • institutional and organisational framework conditions
  • local, regional, national and international resources
  • approaches and methods of social research
  • fields of work and practice involving social work
  • knowledge of "English"
 

1st semester: introduction and overview of the social landscape (institutional and legal aspects), fundamentals of social science theory formation, biography and communication work

 

2nd to 4th semester: worlds of life in diverse target groups of Social Work, social-work methods and action competency, salutogenesis, preparations for internships

 

4th semester: semester abroad is possible; learning together with incoming students, and the thematic focal point of "Social Work_across Borders"

 

5th semester: internship

 

6th semester: postprocessing for real life and transition to professional life, theory-practice-reflection, living worlds of diverse target groups
