What is Social Work at the FH Vorarlberg?
Social Work is work for and with people.
Social Work is an internationally recognised degree programme and a professional discipline that addresses the reduction of social problems and enables people in difficult living situations to participate in society more. Social work also always has a preventive character, respects the human being as a citizen with rights and enables him or her to actively and independently design his or her life.
The person and the community with all their facets, characteristics and peculiarities, with all their problems and conflicts in various forms of life, take front and centre stage in the bachelor's degree programme in Social Work. It is not easy to do justice to socially disadvantaged people and find good solutions. Listening and watching carefully along with a high degree of empathy in connection with high professional competency are the most important features of successful social work.
The bachelor's degree programme in Social Work prepares its students professionally, methodically, practically and in terms of character to support people, groups and communities to determine their (co)existence autonomously and master it in a human way.
The bachelor's degree programme in Social Work at the FHV conforms to the Bologna system and is thus recognised internationally. It broadly qualifies you for the assumption of a job in social work within the classical fields of the discipline and provides a solid basic education.
Further scientific and professional qualification is possible in the many master's degree programmes. Since 2010, the FH Vorarlberg offers a master's degree with specialisations in Clinical Social Work and Intercultural Social Work.
