General admission requirements

A general university entrance examination or relevant professional qualifications with additional examinations are required for entry to a bachelor’s degree programme at the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences.

The general university entrance examination is to be proven by:

  • an Austrian certificate of the university entrance examination,
  • another Austrian diploma acknowledging the right of the entitled person to enter the university degree programme in question,
  • an equivalent foreign diploma,
  • a certificate on the completion of at least 3 years of study at a recognised post-secondary-school education facility.

Relevant professional qualifications result from the completion of training in an area suited for the department or graduation from a vocational school. The Head of the Degree Programme decides on the appropriate specificity of the subject in each case. Applicants with relevant professional qualifications have to take additional examinations in the subjects of German, mathematics, English and a selected subject. The required level for these additional examinations and the content of the selected subject depend on the chosen degree programme.

A completed subject-specific bachelor degree programme at a university or the completion of an equivalent degree programme at a recognised, post-secondary-school educational facility is required for entry to a department for a university master's degree at the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences.

If the academic concept of a university degree programme is based on professional experience, admission to this university degree programme may be restricted to a corresponding target group.
