Internationalization

This subject is also very important for part-time WING students. However, the personal circumstances are considered in the implementation of this.

For some employees, it is very difficult to study abroad for an entire semester. Therefore we try to make adequate offers that employed students can take advantage of:

1. Internationalization@home

Some courses may be offered in English through the systematic use of international lecturers via teacher exchange.

Currently (as of: 02/2010), we have lecturers from Finland, Russia and Holland in the degree programme.

2. Using summer school offers as "free mover"

Numerous universities and institutions offer participation in such programmes (summer schools, winter schools, etc.). If there is time and staff financing, it is possible to take advantage of these offers. The International Office at the FHV has prepared an overview. The transfer of ECTS must be discussed with the Head of the Degree Programme in each case. Our goal is to "accredit" some of these offers in the medium term.

3. Organised FHV study trips (STEP programme)

During the degree programme, we offer four organised study trips (STEP = Short-Term Exchange Programme) with different destinations and content. The focus of the destinations will be the BRIC countries (Russia and India).

In each case, these trips take place during the semester holiday in February and July.

These programmes that have been tailored to us focus on both subjects related to the degree programme and intercultural aspects.

The crediting of approx. 2-3 ECTS is planned. Students should participate in at least one STEP trip.

The study trips are organised by Prof. Bernhard Blessing and accompanied by internal university lecturers.

4. International summer schools at the FHV

If need be, participation in international programmes that take place at our university can be made possible for those who do not travel abroad. International summer schools at the FH Vorarlberg are being planned with content in various subjects.

5. Semester sbroad

If the personal and professional situation offers the opportunity to study abroad for a complete semester, this can be supported by our International Office. The crediting of ECTS is to be clarified with the Head of the Degree Programme.
