Why study Comptuter Science?

Processing information and software can no longer be ignored in our daily life.

Only a degree programme in Computer Science offers you the possibility of designing these software systems yourself. Computers represent a tool for implementing the theoretical concepts.  Software and information engineering is a central subset of Computer Science. This involves collecting the right information and designing, creating and operating software for the automatic processing of this information.

In the bachelor's degree programme "Computer Science - Software and Information Engineering," students learn the tools of every computer scientist: drafting, creating and testing software. For this reason, the bachelor's degree programme offers ideal requirements for entering a profession in almost all segments of computer science.

Our master's degree programme is designed for increasing knowledge and specialising in the field of mobile, distributed and ubiquitous systems. But after the bachelor's degree programme, there is also the option of many other specialisations at other universities and FHs.

There is a broad, growing professional field for computer scientists.

Why study at a University of Applied Sciences?

Universities of Applied Sciences offer professional training on an academic level and close to real life. The development of a degree programme always starts with an analysis of the needs in the economy and society. Starting from this need, a qualification profile for the graduates is defined, and the curriculum is designed specifically for this qualification profile. This is a reason for the real-life focus of the degree programmes of Universities of Applied Sciences. There are many subjects that are very well suited for real life forms of training. Computer Science - Software and Information Engineering definitely count among them.

Why study Computer Science at the FH Vorarlberg?

The degree programmes at the FH Vorarlberg are excellently focused on the needs of the economy, and in particular attention is paid to the local economy. The FH Vorarlberg is a comparatively small university so we can offer very individual support. Only 40 incoming students per year guarantees this exceptionally individual support and constant access to the abundance of modern resources. The degree programme is very well networked with the local IT industry, and our graduates are in very high demand.

An average of approx. 20 semester hours per week and 180 ECTS are completed during the six semester degree programme.
