The Digital Innovation Hub “Business Intelligence & Innovation” @ the High Tech Summit Baden-Würtemberg: small and medium-sized manufacturing companies are the heart of the European Union’s industry. These Companies employ millions of people and make an important contribution to the gross domestic product of the respective country. Many of these SMEs suffer from a scarcity of resources and cannot keep up with the speed of digital transformation in their organization, in their production and manufacturing as well as in their production facilities. This leads to inefficiencies in each respective company up to sectoral insignificance and its collapse. To be able to react adequately to the current challenges of global competition, SMEs need access to technology, innovation, competence, and relevant know-how.
The round table workshop “The Perspective on Solutions to cope with the Digital Revolution: Digital Skills of the Future” deals with the chances, trends, and challenges of digital transformation in small and medium-sized manufacturing companies. In four key-note presentations followed by a round table discussion, new technologies, innovations, skills and new know-how will be presented and their relevance for small and medium-sized manufacturing companies discussed. The focus is on sharpening the digital skills of companies and thus the development of “Digital Skills for all” to strengthen the manufacturing industry in the region and Europe.
