If you have a valid campus card or library card, you can request materials that are not in our collection from another library; this service is subject to a fee.

Interlibrary loans are available only for education and training or research purposes.

Before submitting a request, please carefully check the availability of the desired material in olav, the online literature search engine at FH Vorarlberg.

Please submit your request to fernleihe@fhv.at and provide the required details:

BooksAuthor, title, year of publication, ISBN
ArticlesAuthor, title, name of the periodical, year of publication, page references

The following are not available through interlibrary loan:

  • Materials that are available in the FH Vorarlberg library in printed form, even if they are on loan at the time you wish to place your request
  • Materials that are available in the FH Vorarlberg library in electronic form
  • Fiction
  • Works of reference
  • Newspapers and periodicals
  • Loose-leaf publications
  • Patent specifications, standards
  • DVDs, CD ROMs, discs, image and sound recording media

The fees depend on the charges from the loaning library. We would be happy to let you know the exact fee for your specific request.
Fees are collected at the time you retrieve the literature you have requested from our information desk.

Book requests from within Austria€ 1.50 to € 4.00
Book requests from outside Austria€ 9.00 to € 13.00
Article requests€ 6.50 to € 13.00

The borrowing and use conditions from the source library must be observed. Please note that some libraries only permit the loaned materials to be used on the premises of the library.


The average waiting time for books is between 10 and 20 days.
Typically, books requested through interlibrary loan may be borrowed for up to 14 to 28 days.
In some cases, the material may be renewed upon request.
Please contact us early if you wish to seek renewal.

ArticlesUsually, copies of articles arrive within a week.

Books and articles that have been requested can be picked up and paid for at the information desk when the library is open. Please note that books must be picked up in person by the individual who placed the request.

Please do not return books that have been requested through interlibrary loan in the book drop; these items must be returned to the information desk.
