Digital Factory Vorarlberg

Industrial plants of the future are data-based, agile, intelligent and transparent. Their machines, control and planning systems are highly networked internally as well as across companies. Information technology has become the most important and decisive factor for successful companies. The complexity, the enormous variety of topics and the lack of human resources present companies with great challenges in the development and introduction of digital strategies.

The research center Digital Factory Vorarlberg addresses various aspects of digital transformation and digitization in the production of goods.

Fields of research

New digital methods are developed and tested in joint projects with companies and academic partners:

  • Factory and production control
  • Data analyses for status reporting (dashboards)
  • predictive maintenance or production and quality optimization
  • The automation of production sequences and networked business processes
  • IT security aspects
  • The collaboration of humans and machines
  • Methods of the digital twins
  • The use of virtual and augmented reality
  • The networking of machines and plants
  • As well as a number of other topics relevant to digitisation

Labor

In the test laboratory of the research center, the essential aspects of the production of goods (parts manufacturing, assembly, logistics, warehousing) can be simulated in real scenarios.

Further education

In addition, the research centre offers opportunities for the education of students of all courses of study at Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences and tailor-made programmes for the training and further education of company employees.

Cooperation

The team at Digital Factory Vorarlberg will also be happy to support your company in the digital transformation and the introduction, implementation or further development of digital strategies.
