Digital Factory Vorarlberg

Industrial plants of the future are data-based, agile, intelligent and transparent. Their machines, control and planning systems are highly networked internally as well as across companies. Information technology has become the most important and decisive factor for successful companies. The complexity, the enormous variety of topics and the lack of human resources present companies with great challenges in the development and introduction of digital strategies.

The research center Digital Factory Vorarlberg addresses various aspects of digital transformation and digitization in the production of goods.

New digital methods are being developed and tested in joint projects with companies and academic partners:

  • Factory and production control
  • Data analyses for status reporting (dashboards)
  • Predictive maintenance or production and quality optimization
  • Automation of production processes and of interlinked business processes
  • IT security aspects
  • The collaboration of humans and machines
  • Methods of digital twins
  • The use of virtual and augmented reality
  • The networking of machines and plants
  • As well as a number of other topics dealing with digitization

In the test laboratory of the research center, the essential aspects of the production of goods (parts manufacturing, assembly, logistics, warehousing) can be simulated in real scenarios.

In addition, the research center offers training opportunities for students of all degree programs at FH Vorarlberg and tailor-made programs for the education and further training of company employees.
