Principles of European law/legal system of the EU

The four fundamental freedoms (free movement of goods, capital, people and services)

European   consumer law

Private International Law

UN Sales Law

Differences in business law of major trading partners, particularly Germany, Switzerland, Common Law (UK, USA) and France

Particularly important international matters, for example International trade transactions, securities, products liability, sales contracts, intellectual property

  • Students know the main sources of European and International law
  • Students know the European institutions and understand their composition

Comprehension

  • Students understand the process by which European laws and regulations are converted into national law

Application

  • Students can refer to selected European sources in their initial assessment of legal claims and argue respectively
  • Students use their knowledge of European law to make management decisions, e.g. the assessment of location advantages or marketing strategies

  • Students analyse legal problems and are able to decide when legal assistance is needed.
