Course content

In this basic course the main tasks of HRM are taught. This includes: - Human resource planning, recruitment - Recruiting and selecting staff - Personnel development, talent management, commitment - Staff assessment and evaluation - Personal exemption/outsourcing - Workforce management, capacity management, work time systems - Rewards - Employee controlling - HR marketing, employer branding - Life cycle-related HRM


Learning outcomes

Knowledge - Students know the main roles of HRM and its integration into the company. - They know the components and concepts of HR responsibilities. Comprehension - They understand the strategic importance of HRM and can represent the contribution of the HR department for the companys success by using a case study. Application - Students can apply different approaches of HR to exemplary corporate problems. Analysis - Students are able to identify HR strategies and HR roles from best practice examples and analyse them in terms of their effect.


Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Lecture, readings, exercises, case studies, role plays and reflection exercises. 


Assessment methods and criteria

Evaluation of an HR issue in groups: How do companies manage this topic in practice? Presentation in groups with individual increases and reductions (50 %). Test 50% maximum 9 Bonuspoints for good preparation of the lectures, paricipation in the lectures, quiz
