As a graduate of the bachelor's degree programme, you are highly sought after. The fields of employment are wide ranging. There is a broad and constantly growing professional field open to computer scientists, including in particular the following areas:

  • Software engineering based on client needs up to the point of operation of tested finished products
  • Selection and start-up of appropriate hardware, network components and software
  • Adapting standard software such as content management, intranet and internet systems, integrated ERP systems
  • Integration of new systems and web services into existing systems
  • System and network administration (user support, version updates, configurations, security issues, monitoring, optimisation and documentation)
  • Development and implementation of information management strategies for businesses (planning, design and modelling of business processes and information systems)
  • Development and implementation of IT and security strategies for businesses (virtualisation, memory management, access rights, security issues…)
  • Sales of IT products and services
  • IT procurement for businesses (requirement analyses and evaluation of hardware and software components)

Access to further degrees

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc) degree qualifies you for further studies in a master's degree programme at a university of applied sciences or university.

At Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences (FH Vorarlberg), we offer you training in software expertise as a part of the full-time master's degree programme Computer Science (flexible work is an option). After graduating from the bachelor's degree programme in Computer Science – Software and Information Management, you also have the option to take a few additional examinations in order to transfer to the master's degree programme in the field of Business Process Management. The master's degree programme International Management and Leadership qualifies you for complex leadership tasks in international and intercultural business environments (programme language is English, at least two years`professional experience are mandatory).

After graduating from the master's degree programme, you receive the Master of Science in Engineering (MSc) or Master of Arts in Business (MA) academic degree. From there, you have the option to pursue a doctoral degree at a (technical) university.
