Professional profile of graduates

As a graduate of the master’s degree in Computer Science, you will be in demand in the employment market. As an interface between humans and computers, the economy and society, completing this master’s degree offers you excellent career prospects.

Computer scientists are in demand to resolve complex tasks in all fields. The possible areas of work are extraordinarily diverse and range from the management of software projects to challenging consultancy and on to leadership at a strategic level.

Typical areas of work (depending on the specialisations chosen) include:

  • Software engineering across the board along the value creation chain of the Internet of Things, from hardware-based programming on resource-constrained systems to the networking of systems to integration into the backend.
  • Software engineering to understand optimisation problems, modelling and representation of models in software, use of simulation and other methods for optimisation and problem solving.
  • Use of methods from design thinking at the interface between human and machine to develop new services with a distinct user experience.
  • Software and data engineering for big data, providing large quantities of data from different sources, bringing these together and analysing and displaying them using common tools.
  • Software engineering for autonomous systems from navigation and orientation to planning reactions to the interaction between autonomous systems.
  • Taking on responsibility for a high quality software engineering life cycle.
  • Planning and implementation of measures to ensure information security within companies and organisations.
  • Active participation in research and development and in academic discourse in the specialist area, particularly in the specialisations selected.
