Learning outcomes
  • The students have gained a basic understanding of the key concepts and relationships of mechanics (statics).
  • The students are able to determine the center of gravity of complex, composite surfaces.
  • The students are able to form the resultant of several forces or break down forces into components.
  • The students are able to determine the static determination of a system and can calculate the support reaction of it
  • The students have understood the link between external loads and internal forces and are thus able to develop solution strategies for any rod system.
  •  The students are able to apply graphical methods of statics to simple systems.
  • The students are able to calculate the forces in the rods in a lattice system.
  • The students have gained knowledge of the laws of friction and as a result are able to estimate the forces which occur as a result of friction
