Course content
  • Basic microbiology (bacteriology, virology and parasitology) and infectious diseases
  • Environmental hygiene, social hygiene and epidemiology
  • Infection prevention measures
  • Vaccines/immunisation
  • Disinfection/sterilisation
  • Nosocomial infections and hospital hygiene
  • Applied hygiene based on the fields of activity of nursing staff

Learning outcomes

Students

  • will be able to describe key terms in microbiology, aetiology and epidemiology
  • will know risk factors for nosocomial infections and be able to implement preventative measures at a nursing level  
  • will be able to identify the link between compliance with the principles of hygiene measures and health for their professional work
