Course content

Working with groups is beside working with individuals and community work one of the core practice methods in Social Work. Basics for an effectual output is the group-theory related to dynamic processes, the "age" of a group and different roles in groups.Skills in being a group leader are essential for working with groups.The focus is on working with a variety of groups in diverse practice and organizational settings, in particular group formation, group participation, group leadership and group termination. One topic is working in an interdisciplinary group.


Learning outcomes

Students are aware of the dynamics in a group. They are ready to act as a member of a group as well as participant. They know about specific tasks related to the formation and "age of the group. They are able to react with respect to the needs of the members of a group. They are ready to work in interdisciplinary groups and develop skills in using a variety of strategies.
