Course content

Students are able to

  • formulate an individual learning plan with concrete learning objectives.
  • autonomously describe and define a personal and comprehensible learning process.
  • track activities to achieve the goals according to the action plan or correct them if necessary.
  • prepare relevant documents and, on this basis, decide on the further curriculum.
  • assess their strengths and weaknesses and define needs for their training.

The project “Preventing Social Exclusion on Youth” takes place in the WHF Self-Organized Learning in cooperation with the NHL-Stenden (Netherlands) and the HAMK Finland (project leader at the FH: Anja Kerle). In addition to theoretical input on the above-mentioned topic, the students work closely with actors involved in child and youth work in Vorarlberg to develop a relevant issue. In a joint mobility week in Finland, various international perspectives and solutions are explored and discussed together. One focus is on the application of digital media.

Learning outcomes

The students

  • can independently and critically deal with current issues, projects or actions and question the contextual relevance;
  • expand their understanding and reflect the effects of certain methods;
  • know the basics of recognized methods of social work and apply them in case studies;
  • can independently develop techniques and forms of intervention for various questions in social work.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Self organized learning, dialogue, peergroup-counselling, oen-to-one support, reflexion

Assessment methods and criteria

As part of RUN-EU, we will hold an exchange on the topic of “digitization / inclusion of young people” with our partner universities in Finland and the Netherlands in the summer semester (with a 1-week mobility week in Finland). The WHF “Self-Organized Learning” is used for this. Due to the content and time required, the WHF "Social Dialogue" is automatically recognized for all students who register for this.
