Please note: The official language of instruction for all degree programmes at FH Vorarlberg is German. A few courses are also offered in English.
The master’s degree programme in Social Work requires the following qualifications or abilities:
Degree obtained from at least a 3-year programme at the Academy for Social Work (admission without, or conditional upon, examination by course management)
attended for at least 180 ECTS at a recognised post-secondary educational institution, at which an admission requirement is the general university entrance qualification and which are recognised as educational institutions in the meaning of this definition by the laws of the country in which they are located. For the basic equivalence, at least 150 ECTS credits must have been completed at a recognised or accredited university. An exception applies to admission via a degree obtained from at least a 3-year programme at the Academy for Social Work (180 ECTS) in conjunction with relevant professional experience.
Do you have a degree in social science or humanities?
If you have a bachelor’s degree in social science or humanities, we will consider your skills in line with the stated fields of competence. In the case of relevant professional experience in a field of social work of at least 1,500 hours, you will be granted unconditional admission to studies. This professional experience must be substantiated by means of an employment reference or certificate uploaded during the online application process. In individual cases, course management will decide on the relevance of your professional experience and on your background knowledge.
Do you lack the required professional experience?
Admission is also possible in these cases. However, course management may set specific conditions (e.g. participation in additional relevant classes). If you are unable to provide any or sufficient evidence of your skills, FH Vorarlberg or Schloss Hofen, Wissenschaft und Weiterbildung offers recognised further training programmes on relevant topics.
