Specialisation in Clinical Social Work – close to professional practice for in-depth knowledge in social care and healthcare!

The master’s degree programme in Social Work with a specialisation in Clinical Social Work offers you practice-oriented, training combined with academic study. The skills you obtain will support you in the most varied of professional fields within social care and healthcare in advisory, treatment-based and preventative healthcare promotion-based roles.

The definition of the term “clinical” is kept very broad and includes biopsychosocial elements that are relevant to social work. Clinical social work is treatment-based, preventative and therapeutic social work with its own methods of explanation and action:

  • Biopsychosocial diagnostics, counselling, assistance and support for individuals and groups in the context of their living environment
  • Salutogenesis and case histories
  • Professional action on biopsychosocial and healthcare issues at both individual and societal levels
  • Emphasis on work with healthcare recipients with severe disabilities and diseases and crises (multiple problems) and counselling in various fields of action
  • Ethics, human rights and social justice
  • Communication and counselling skills
  • Working on exemplary fields of action
