Specialisation in Intercultural Social Work – work with people in a diverse society!

The specialisation in Intercultural Social Work teaches practice-oriented and theoretical knowledge for a key task of social workers: working with people in a diverse society.

The definition of “intercultural” is kept very broad and includes tasks and problems related to individuals, groups, larger units and communities. As a place of immigration, Vorarlberg has a long tradition with people of the most varied of origins. This pluralisation is reflected in the social work.

Intercultural Social Work aims to promote inclusion, equality of opportunity, equality, acceptance of otherness, exchange and participation:

  • Counselling, assistance and support for individuals and groups in the context of their living environments
  • Migration, interculturality and diversity
  • Case studies and professional action at micro, meso and macro levels
  • Contribution to the management of integration processes and promotion of intercultural communities
  • Ethics, human rights and social justice
  • Social exclusion and inclusion processes
  • Intercultural action models at all levels
  • Working on exemplary fields of action
