Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences welcomes exchange students also during the autumn semester 2020/21. We would like to assure you that our university will do everything possible to realize safe exchange experiences in Austria, also during the upcoming semester. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting travel restrictions, we are unfortunately not able to host all exchange students.
Students who need a visa and/or residence permit for entering Austria:
The Federal Ministry of the Republic Austria for European and International Affairs currently informs as follows: “In context with the efforts undertaken to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs has decided to largely suspend all client facing services, including in immigration matters such as visa and residence, at the Austrian representations abroad. This measure follows a recommendation by the European Commission. Visa applications may be lodged exclusively in exceptional circumstances and compliant with certain application requirements, such as for family members of Austrian citizens or family members of EEA and Swiss citizens residing in Austria, or for employees in systemically relevant fields of work. Beyond that, new visa applications may neither be lodged in Austrian embassies and consulates, nor with our external service partner VFS Global, at this point.” This also means that no visas will be issued until further notice for exchange students. We unfortunately currently cannot provide you with the information, when the visa application will be possible again. Please check this link regularly for updated information regarding this.
