Together with 20 colleagues from universities all over the world, Karin Wüstner-Dobler, Head of the International Office of FH Vorarlberg, had the opportunity to participate in the international Staff Exchange Week of the partner university Kanagawa University in Yokohama in November 2018.

Besides getting to know Kanagawa University and the individual exchange with international experts, the participants presented best practice examples on the following topics: 

  • Policies and Management of International Partnerships
  • Benefits of an Overseas Center/Office
  • Best Practices on Inbound Program
  • How to motivate Students for Study Abroad
  • Experience with Double/Joint Degrees
  • Efficiency or Communication? How to manage an International Office with Online Systems
  • Increasing English Usage on Campus 

The presentations were then deepened in group work to foster the possibility for a lively and interesting exchange of experiences. 

The hosts also offered a very interesting social programme, a special highlight was the opportunity to participate in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. 

The experienced hospitality, the insight into the Japanese culture and especially the common learning with and from other international experts have been experienced as an absolute enrichment.

In future students of FH Vorarlberg will have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at Kanagawa University. We are convinced that this will also be an unforgettable experience for the students.
