The presentation will discuss the concepts of tradition, translation and betrayal as Cartesian axes of design. Through the presentation of some specific works, the relationship between technology, form, symbolism and use of space will then be discussed: considered as pivotal points of architectural thought. The goal of the workshop and presentation is thus to reason about architectural theory and design in order to theorize and formalize architecture as a syncretic experience: a dialogical object capable of combining different parts, ideas, aesthetics, forms, and policies.
