Overview

The Workshop on Breath Gas Analysis will be a meeting that brings together the leading specialists from around the world working in the field of breath gas research and its application for clinical diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring. The scientific program of this conference covers all modern aspects of exhaled breath gas analysis ranging from latest developments in mass-spectrometry-based instrumentations as well as sensor technologies and their applications, sampling techniques, endogenous formation of volatile metabolites via studying cellular and bacterial in vitro systems, disease diagnosis, health assessment and medical monitoring, phenotyping, pilot case studies and clinical applications. This workshop is an important and fruitful opportunity to meet and discuss with the other scientists working in this field.

Location

The Workshop is being co-hosted by the Institute for Breath Research, University of Innsbruck, and the University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg. Dornbirn is situated in the beautiful Vorarlberg region of Western Austria near Lake Constance, just a few kilometers from the Swiss border. Nearby airports are at Zürich, Altenrhein, Munich, and Innsbruck, with good train connections to Dornbirn.

Accomodation

As guest of the Fachhochschule Vorarlberg you will be able to get special rates at Hotel Krone en.kronehotel.at . When booking with the Hotel Krone, please state “Gast der Fachhochschule Vorarlberg”. There are also many other hotels in Dornbirn and the surrounding area. Please e-mail Prof. Unterkofler if you need any assistance.

Abstracts

Participants are encouraged to present their most recent scientific results at the meeting. Abstracts are invited on every field of breath gas analysis, i.e., clinical, pharmacological and forensic applications; in vitro gas phase analysis (bacterial cells, infections, pathogens); central laboratory instrumentation; engineering solutions; human and animal in vivo studies; cellular and molecular level in vitro studies; mathematical, statistical and graphical data interpretation; standardization, etc. Please email the Chair (Professor Karl Unterkofler) to request an abstract template and submit abstracts to the Chair and Co-Chair (Professor Chris Mayhew). Please indicate your preference for an oral (20 or 30 min) or poster presentation.
