Course content

The students work in subject areas that either contribute to clarifying the possible master's thesis or represent preparatory work for the master's thesis. They will work independently under the supervision of the course's supervising university lecturers.

Learning outcomes

The students are able to

  • specify and justify a self-selected research topic in their field.
  • formulate and operationalize a suitable research question.
  • create a research plan that includes the theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of the planned master's thesis.
  • carry out systematic literature research and critically analyze and evaluate relevant sources (literature analysis).
  • consider the ethical and legal aspects of the research and take appropriate measures.
  • present and discuss their research topic in writing and orally.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Repetition of the cornerstones of academic work, especially on the topic of writing and presenting an academic paper and a systematic literature analysis.

Short presentation of the topic, seminar paper (preparation of the disposition paper) and presentation of the results.

Attendance at the presentations is compulsory.

The seminar is generally face-to-face. Due to the high level of networking, individual group discussions may be held via video conference. This applies in particular to the supervising university lecturers.
