The part-time Master’s programme in International Management and Leadership equips you with essential skills in global management, intercultural leadership, and responsible decision-making. You will learn how to successfully enter international markets, manage complex projects, lead global teams, drive change and navigate cultural challenges – all taught entirely in English.
Upon graduation, a wide range of international career paths will open up to you: you may take on management or leadership roles in globally operating companies, lead international projects, or develop sustainable strategies for innovation and transformation. Whether as a Team Lead, Project Manager, Business Developer, or Change Manager – this Master’s degree enables you to take on key positions in an international context.
The programme is designed for international professionals with at least two years of work experience, regardless of your previous academic background.

The 120 ECTS credits are distributed as follows over the four semesters, including compulsory modules and the master's thesis.
Curriculum
Contextual Studies: Selection of 1 or 2 modules totaling 6 ETCS.

Business Fundamentals in the 1st Semester are mainly distant learning.
ECTS: Credit points based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Consistent with international standards, 30 ECTS points can be earned each semester.
TU: One Teaching Units corresponds to 45 minutes.

Access and application
The master’s degree programme IML at FHV requires the following qualifications and skills:
- Completion of a Bachelor‘s degree or equivalent diploma degree programme* including High school diploma
- At least two years of professional experience (documented by an employer reference letter or employment contract in English or German)
*The degree programme must have been completed to the extent of at least six semesters and 180 ECTS at a recognised domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution where admission is subject to the general university entrance qualification and which is recognised as a post-secondary educational institution under the legislation of the state in which it is located. The programme director will decide on an individual basis regarding the fulfilment of the admission requirements.
Specific requirements for Non-EU/EEA applicants:
Translation and legalization are required for the following four documents:
- High School Diploma and Transcript of Records
- Bachelor's Degree and Transcript of Records
This master's programme is designed as a part-time programme. Current employment is not a mandatory requirement, but is advantageous for the application process.

Admission requirements for international degree seeking students
The application period starts 15th November via our online application form.
The application deadlines at the FHV are divided as follows:
Application deadline I 15th November - 1st March
By applying by March 1st, you will benefit from a faster confirmation of your study place
Application deadline II until 31st May
You can apply for all degree programmes until 31st May.
Application deadline III until 31st August
Some degree programmes still have a few places available until 31st August.
Important information: The ultimate application deadline for all applications sent from third countries (non EU or non-EEA, with the exception of Switzerland) is 1st March.

Two steps to your dream degree at:
Step 1:
Profound review of your application documents, in particular evaluation of your motivation letter, your achievements in your previous studies as well as your professional experience.
Step 2:
A one-hour structured online interview covering the following topics
- Personal motivation for the participation in the programme
- Professional experience and qualifications
- Organizational requirements
Evaluation of language skills is based on TOEFL, ITP, IELTS or Cambridge Certificate, not older than 4 years. If no such test is available English proficiency will be judged by the interviewer.
All applicants who have successfully completed step 1 will be admitted to step 2. The best 15 applicants will be admitted.
Proven academic achievements that have been completed in master's degree programmes at colleges and universities can be recognized on an individual basis for individual courses or modules. The decision on recognition lies with the programme director.
