Generalist or specialist – you decide which direction to take.
You will work on case studies in small groups, use haptic and digital business simulations and develop practical solutions. The project workshop and excursions will bring you into contact with companies in the region at an early stage.
In the 4th or 5th semester, you will deepen your knowledge through the project workshop and the business simulation of your chosen specialisation. With four freely selectable subjects, you decide whether to take a generalist or specialised path. Business simulations and elective subjects are taught in English – mostly by international lecturers.
In the sixth semester, the professional internship and the Business Consulting Challenge give you valuable insights into professional practice.

Internship – your entry into the world of work!
The 12-week internship in the 6th semester is a central component of your studies. It enables you to apply the knowledge you have learned in practice and prepares you for future professional challenges – at the same time, it opens up potential employers for you.
The internship often provides the framework for your bachelor's thesis. You will work on a practical problem and document its solution according to scientific criteria. You are responsible for organising the internship. The internship contract must be approved by the programme director, and the work must be relevant to your field of study. A professional internship abroad is also possible and offers you valuable international experience!
Admission to the final examination
In order to register for the oral bachelor's examination,
- all courses in the curriculum must have been successfully completed and
- the bachelor's thesis must have been positively assessed.
Career perspectives
Studying International Business Administration opens up a wide range of career prospects for you – in industry, finance, services, trade, commerce or the public sector. Depending on your specialisation, you will prepare yourself specifically for future-oriented fields such as controlling and financial management, human resource management, marketing and sales, IT management, production and logistics, or training and further education.
In addition, the degree qualifies you for further master's studies at a university of applied sciences or university in Germany or abroad. At FHV, we offer master's programmes in business administration and business informatics. Building on this, it is possible to pursue a doctorate or PhD at a university.

Access and application
The Bachelor's programme in International Business Administration requires the following qualifications or skills:
General university entrance qualification:
- Austrian school leaving certificate or vocational school leaving certificate or
- equivalent university entrance qualification or
- equivalent foreign certificate (e.g. Abitur) or
- certificate of completion of at least three years of study at a recognised domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution or
Relevant professional qualification with additional examinations:
- Completed vocational secondary school (at least 3 years) or
- Completed dual training (relevant Austrian apprenticeship) or
- German Fachhochschulreife (advanced technical college entrance qualification) and Swiss Berufsmaturität (vocational baccalaureate)
The programme director decides on the relevance of the qualification. Applicants with relevant vocational training must pass the additional examinations at the FHV. Further information on ways to study without a Matura can be found here.

The application deadlines at FHV are as follows:
Application deadline I: 15 November to 1 March
Apply by 1 March and benefit from early admission.
Application deadline II: 31 May
You can apply for all degree programmes by 31 May.
Application deadline III: 31 August
Some degree programmes still have places available until 31 August.
Important information: The application deadline for applicants from third countries (non-EU or non-EEA, with the exception of Switzerland) is 1 March.
The following documents are required for your complete application:
- Letter of motivation
- Curriculum vitae in table form
- Certificates (Matura or equivalent qualification)
- Passport or identity card
- Current portrait photo
- Proof of language skills
If you are still missing certificates or exam results at the time of your application, you can submit them later.

Evaluation of your complete application documents, your previous education and experience.
Step 2:
In a personal interview, we will learn more about you, your goals and your motivation for studying.
Please submit all pages of your school leaving certificate. If you do not yet have a school leaving certificate, please submit your last semester report. If you are eligible to study through additional examinations, please submit your vocational school leaving certificate or the leaving certificate from the three-year technical college.
Don't forget to upload any other evidence and documents relating to extracurricular activities such as summer internships or additional training.
Applicants with a German technical college entrance qualification should submit their final certificate or, if they still have final exams to take, their interim certificate.
Special regulations: As a graduate of a vocational secondary school (HTL, HAK), individual courses may be credited to you individually during your studies. You can obtain details about this in a meeting with the programme director.
