Information about studying at FHV
With the classic full-time study, studying takes up most of your time. Focused engagement with the subject area allows for “quick” completion. It is still possible to work a limited number of hours alongside your studies - depending on the course of study, semester and your own requirements.
Part-time means that studies and work are consciously combined. The courses will usually be held on Friday afternoons and Saturdays in person and/or in blocks - depending on the course of study. Reducing the workload to 50-70% is ideal, but depends on the work environment, family situation and personal resilience. We support you with these organizational measures
- Optimized timetable design with little idle time and variety on offer
- Preview of attendance times and exam dates several months in advance
- Attendance and examination times will only be changed in exceptional cases (e.g. illness of a lecturer)
- If possible, exam dates immediately after the course has been completed in order to avoid compressed exam situations at the end of the semester
- Small group sizes - this creates space for individual support when working on practice examples, case studies and projects
- The availability of electronic media (scripts, eBooks, articles in specialist databases) is very high and is constantly being expanded
A central advantage of the dual course of study is the combination of theory and practical blocks: You learn the theory at the FHV and apply the knowledge directly in the partner company. This connection enables you to deepen your practical knowledge and grow into your future position during your training.
Yes, it is possible, but additional exams are required. For this, you must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Apprenticeship completion
- Graduation from a vocational school
- German Fachhochschulreife (university of applied sciences entrance qualification)
- Swiss Berufsmaturität (vocational baccalaureate)
