About the FHV

Study, research, work - and design the future.

The FHV is located in the center of the Bodensee region between the countries of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

This unique location in the heart of Europe - between Lake Constance and the Alps - is not only a valued recreational area, but also a vibrant economic area for many people.

Efficient SMEs, outstanding international industrial companies and a successful service and tourism sector have their home here. Vibrant cities such as Munich, Milan, Zurich or Paris are within easy reach.

Looking beyond borders is inscribed in the DNA of the region's people. Thus, the FHV also maintains good partnerships with companies, universities and research institutes all over the world.

As a European University RUN-EU, our university actively shapes the future of university teaching and research.

The FHV is Vorarlberg's largest higher education institution, and the state of Vorarlberg is the maintainer. We share knowledge, train specialists, conduct research with partners throughout Europe and develop practical solutions for Business and Management and society.

Our employees in teaching, research and administration ensure with their daily work that Vorarlberg and the Lake Constance region are considered model regions.

Studying at the FHV

The FHV offers bachelor's and master's degree programmes in four departments:

  • Business and Management
  • Engineering
  • Design
  • Social & Health

Study is offered in a wide variety of models:

Small student groups and close cooperation with lecturers characterize the teaching at our university.

All courses of study are practice-oriented and tailored to the needs of business and society.

Teamwork and good networks are recipes for success for us: Around nine out of ten graduates of the FHV already have a permanent job or a job offer upon graduation.

Modern Campus

Our university is embedded in one of Vorarlberg's most exciting urban quarters.

The area in Dornbirn known as CampusV sees itself as an impulse center for Business and Management, Science and the creative scene.

By 2025, the university buildings will be expanded and extensively modernized.

Lecture halls and laboratories, multimedia rooms and multifunctional seminar rooms are state-of-the-art.

The best thing about it: all rooms, including the technical laboratories, are open to students 24/7.

Research and Science

The FHV is one of the most research oriented universities of applied sciences in Austria.

The research centres, research groups and subsidiaries act as a knowledge centre: thanks to cooperation with research institutions at an international level, the FHV has the latest scientific findings at its disposal and applies them in the region.

The majority of FHV research projects involve regional companies and provide them with concrete answers to their research questions.

The FHV's research activities are also of importance to students. Research and teaching are closely linked and benefit from each other. Students can get involved early in research projects early on and pursue a career in science up to and including a doctorate.
