What is the essence of your job as programme director and what fascinates you about it?
As programme director, I combine my passion for teaching at universities of applied sciences with my previous management and leadership experience. On the one hand, this concerns my role as a personal contact and coach for students and lecturers, and on the other, the consistent strategic orientation and continuous further development of the degree program. Ultimately, however, the smooth running of the degree program is only ever possible as a team effort together with Claudia Ortner in degree programme administration, who is responsible for operational processing and application management, among other things.

Which trends in your field do you find particularly interesting and in which subject areas are you involved?
My personal teaching and research background is in marketing, especially in the context of the tourism industry. Two focal points here are brand management and travel behavior: It is often researched and described how successful brands are (should be) built. However, I am interested in whether and how brands actually influence the purchasing behavior of consumers, for example in the context of complex service bundles that include several brands. I would also like to pass on my interest in sound research and its methodology to my students, as the basic scientific subjects are often (quite wrongly) filled with fear.

What would you like to pass on to your students and what should they bring with them?
I expect my students to be curious about Business Administration issues, to be willing to actively participate in a diverse cohort and to consistently pursue their own (study) goals. I want them to understand that any status quo can be questioned, but that fact-based arguments are needed for its further development.
