What to expect
The boundaries between geopolitics, technology and security are becoming increasingly blurred. States, businesses and societies are growing more dependent on digital infrastructure, global supply chains and technological ecosystems – making them more vulnerable in the process. Artificial intelligence is transforming innovation, as well as the speed and sophistication of cyberattacks. Quantum technologies are challenging established security mechanisms, while the Internet of Things connects the digital and physical worlds, creating new attack surfaces. Dependencies and diversification can reduce risks, while concentration can amplify them – or vice versa. Where do our real dependencies lie, and how resilient are we when critical systems or partners fail? The keynote explores how technological, physical and geopolitical risks are converging to create a new threat landscape. It focuses on how businesses can safeguard their ability to act in an increasingly uncertain world through strategy, risk management and resilient systems.
Speaker:
Kai Gammelin was a member of the senior management team in Risk Control & Compliance at UBS and has held, and continues to hold, other senior executive positions. Since 2007, he has focused on sustainability-related issues, having worked on digitalisation for even longer. He is an entrepreneur, consultant, board member, lecturer and author. He advises businesses across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and is a guest lecturer at universities and educational institutions throughout the DACH region. At FHV, he teaches Investment and Finance and, until recently, also taught Business Administration and Financial Technology. He is also an executive trainer at the University of Zurich and mentors and trains internal audit professionals through IIA Austria – the Institute of Internal Auditors Austria – and its academy.

Our event series Blickpunkt Wirtschaft (Focus on Business) is aimed at members of the public with an interest in economics. Our goal is to raise awareness of the FHV's activities in the field of economics, its cooperation with companies in the region and its business studies programmes. We offer free lectures on current economic and socially relevant topics approximately four times a year. After the lectures, there is an opportunity for discussion and exchange.
