17.03.2026
FHV students and graduates named "Vorarlberg's brains of tomorrow" by the newspaper VN.

Every year, a jury from Vorarlberger Nachrichten selects promising talents from Vorarlberg aged up to 35 from various fields as part of "Vorarlberg's brains of tomorrow". Among this year's honorees were three talents from the FHV. Jason Witzemann studied Computer Science at the FHV and completed both his bachelor's and master's degree programmes with the top grade of 1.0. During his semester dates, he received several scholarships (including the Christl-und-Horst-Zimmermann-Förderpreis). Today, he works at the Digital Factory and also instructs as an external lecturer at the FHV. Julia Ilg is a graduate of the Environment and Engineering bachelor's degree programme and is currently writing her master's thesis (Sustainable Energy Systems master's degree programme). Thomas Schregenberger is currently studying for a Bachelor's degree in Health Care and Nursing and works as a ward manager at Bludenz Regional Hospital. FHV Rector Regine Kadgien was delighted: "We are very proud of the three award winners and congratulate them warmly on these well-deserved awards"

About the award winners

Julia Ilg from Dornbirn already impressed with her outstanding examination results during her bachelor's degree in Environment and Engineering. She also worked during her full-time studies and was still able to complete them with an impressive grade point average of 1.8. As an entrepreneur, Julia radiates leadership skills and actively contributes to solving issues relating to Vorarlberg's energy future in her family business. Julia deals with innovative and extremely future-oriented topics in the field of Energy both in and outside of her studies and has already made progress in terms of sustainability through her intensive engagement with the topic of climate change. Thanks to her open manner and her broad interest in scientific and practical issues, she will continue to make a positive impact in the region as the "head of tomorrow".

Jason Witzemann from Dornbirn is a graduate of the HTL for Engineering and Management - Business Informatics in Dornbirn and has completed the bachelor and master computer science programs at the FHV. He embodies academic excellence, innovative strength and social commitment. As the best student in his year with an average grade of 1.0 and a bachelor's thesis on quantum computing, he not only explored technological boundaries, but also further specialized his passion for artificial intelligence in his master's degree, which he also completed with distinction in September 2025. Professionally, he is actively involved in designing the digital transformation at Digital Factory Vorarlberg, a subsidiary of FHV, and takes on responsibility in complex projects. He has also been an external lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences for several semesters, sharing his knowledge with the next generation of students. He also excelled at this during his studies, was available to help his colleagues with difficult topics and led self-organized learning groups. In addition to the annual merit scholarships, he has been awarded the Christl and Horst Zimmermann Award and the Alpla Scholarship for his achievements. Jason combines knowledge, practice and vision. This makes him a driving force for the future and we expect him to make a significant contribution to the region.

Thomas Schregenberger from Düns, who trained as an IT technician at the HTL Dornbirn, is now ward manager of Internal 3 at the Bludenz Regional Hospital. After completing his nursing training and the "Intermediate and Basic Management" course, his path has now led him to the FHV. Here he is completing a part-time bachelor's degree in Health Care and Nursing, which will accompany him in the coming years alongside his work at the hospital. He wants to qualify for further tasks through his studies. He is a dedicated nurse, father of two and passionate firefighter.
