Data protection and information for courses and examinations via Microsoft Teams

 

FHV handles your personal data carefully and conscientiously. In processing data, we comply with national and European data protection regulations.

Purpose of data processing, categories of data:
Data processing is carried out for the purpose of conveying course content and ensuring academic success. In this context, courses may be transmitted in hybrid mode to other students or recorded – after prior information has been provided to the data subjects – so that they are available at a later time. Furthermore, examinations may be conducted using Microsoft Teams.

The persons affected by data processing may include students, employees, external lecturers, and other individuals associated with FHV. In particular, audio and video data may be processed, as well as names, course and examination content, appointment booking data, log data and chat data.

Legal basis:
Predominant legitimate interests of FHV (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR), which are reflected in the fulfilment of the educational mandate, as well as performance of the education contract (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b) GDPR).
The provision of personal data is voluntary and neither legally nor contractually required. If personal data is not provided, this may result in the agreed course of study not being completed within the intended time frame.

Retention period:
The retention period depends on the requirements of the respective course or degree programme and is up to six years after the end of the course.

Your data protection rights under the GDPR:
We would like to inform you that, within the legally provided scope, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and object to the processing of your personal data. Requests or applications in this context can be addressed to datenschutz@fhv.at.

If processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time by emailing datenschutz@fhv.at. If the processing is based on FHV’s legitimate interests, you may raise an objection with justification. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out until the time of withdrawal or objection remains unaffected.

If you believe that there is unlawful data processing, we kindly ask you to contact us at datenschutz@fhv.at. Furthermore, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority, which is the competent supervisory authority.
