Transfer center for cross-company data organization and data use
24.10.2025
The aim is to systematically support companies in the region in setting up data-based processes and the efficient use of data along the entire processing chain - from data collection and analysis using AI processes to automated decision-making and implementation within the company.
The focus is on:
- The development of practical skills in the areas of data analytics, AI and data organization/data spaces
- The transfer of knowledge to companies, organizations and public institutions
- Promoting strategic cooperation between research and Business and Management
- Supporting the regional digitalization strategy, particularly in the areas of digital production, digital twins and Green Deal goals
The targeted transfer of knowledge is intended to enable companies, organizations and public institutions to make data-based decisions faster and more informed, thus becoming an important lever for the digital transformation of the regional Business and Management.
Voices from research:
FHV project managers provide insights into the topics they are driving forward at the new transfer center and the contribution their work is making to innovation and knowledge transfer in the region.
"Within the transfer center, the Business Informatics research centre is dedicated to topics such as data management, natural language processing, the explainability of AI methods and the quantification of process uncertainties. In addition to technological expertise, the center also addresses overarching aspects of digitalization such as regulatory or ethical requirements for AI systems. By creating guidelines and demonstrators for the use of current AI technologies, we are promoting the development of expertise and the transfer of knowledge in Vorarlberg's companies," Michael Hellwig, Business Informatics research center at the FHV.
"There is a great opportunity in the cross-company use of data to enable digital energy systems of the future. This is why the Energy research centre is involved in the transfer centre (for cross-company data organization and use) with a focus on machine learning for the optimal planning and control of flexibility in the energy system", Peter Kepplinger, Energy research centre at the FHV.
