Treffpunkt Hochschule Vorarlberg: Science in Dialogue

The “Treffpunkt Hochschule” event is dedicated to “Science and Society in Dialogue — Open, Accessible, Relevant” and kicks off on October 7 with the topic “AI — Responsibility Remains with Humans.” Sabrina Schneider, head of the Digital Business Transformation research group and Blum Endowed Professor, will discuss the risks and opportunities of artificial intelligence and how we are focusing on using AI to create positive added value.

Open to everyone

The “Treffpunkt Hochschule Vorarlberg” initiative deliberately brings current topics from science, education, Business and Management, and society to the regional public and makes them accessible to a broad audience. The event series invites participants to experience science as a vibrant, relevant, and everyday space for dialogue. “We are delighted that, similar to the tried-and-true format of the Children’s University, we are able to implement another collaboration with the universities in Vorarlberg,” emphasized FHV Rector Regine Kadgien. On November 11, another “Treffpunkt Hochschule” event will take place at Stella on the topic “Jimi Hendrix and Postmodernism” with Hendrik Schulze. “Art and music also open up new approaches to social issues. We look forward to bringing these perspectives to ‘Treffpunkt Hochschule’ and engaging in conversation with the public,” said Jörg Maria Ortwein, rector of Stella Vorarlberg Private University of Music.

This semester will conclude with the topic “Don’t You Learn to Read in School!? The Problem of Reading and Ways Out of the Reading Crisis” featuring Simone Naphegyi at the Vorarlberg University of Education. “Education thrives on dialogue about issues that affect us all. With ‘Treffpunkt Hochschule,’ we bring academic perspectives into the public discussion and create space for diverse viewpoints,” emphasizes Elisabeth Haas, rector of the Vorarlberg University of Education.

Free, online, and in person

All events are offered in a hybrid format — both in person at the respective university and online — to make them accessible to as many people as possible. The events organized by “Treffpunkt Hochschule Vorarlberg” are free of charge and take place between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m., online and in person at a different university in Vorarlberg on a rotating basis. Anyone interested is invited to attend the lecture and the subsequent discussion.
