Transfer center „Privacy Engineering“

The “Transfer Centre for Privacy Engineering (TRZ)” project aims to improve the secure and responsible handling of sensitive data — particularly in contexts where modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are employed.

Project Objectives

The “Transfer Centre for Privacy Engineering (TRZ)” project develops solutions for privacy-preserving machine learning using sensitive data. Its aim is to harness the benefits of artificial intelligence without compromising individuals’ privacy — particularly in areas such as digital healthcare and business analytics.

The focus lies on data safety, data security, and data ethics. Innovative technologies are combined with legal and ethical requirements to create secure and responsible digital systems. Methods such as privacy-preserving analytics make it possible to generate insights from data without disclosing sensitive information.

“Trustworthy AI is not an obstacle, but a clear competitive advantage for Europe. With our newly established Transfer Centre for Privacy Engineering, we demonstrate to companies how data protection and AI innovation can be successfully combined, thereby creating sustainable competitive advantages,” adds Guido Kempter, Research Centre Human-Centred Technologies at FHV and co-initiator of the Transfer Centre for Privacy Engineering.

In addition to research, knowledge transfer plays a central role. Companies and organisations are actively supported in applying these technologies. The centre therefore sees itself not only as a research initiative, but also as a driver of trustworthy and sustainable digitalisation.
