You should either be a quick and motivated language learner with no knowledge of German or have previously participated in a very short German course where you learnt a few basics such as introducing yourself and asking simple questions. This is a course for absolute and false beginners of German (A0+).
The course focuses on teaching the basic grammar of German and aims at developing a vocabulary range of approximately 500-750 words.
After successful completion of this course you should be able to introduce yourself in German, answer simple questions about personal details such as where you live, what your hobbies are or what you study. You will be able to interact successfully with listeners and speakers of German, for example when shopping. This normally corresponds to a level of A1.
Task based learning strategies applied in group and team work, writing activities, listening activities and video analyses.
Assessment is normally a combination of written assignments submitted and tests taken during the semester.
Active participation is essential for this course.
