Requirements and Prerequisites

None – This is a course for absolute beginners of German (A0).

Course content

The course focuses on teaching the basic grammar of German and aims at developing a vocabulary range of approximately 500 words.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this course you should be able to introduce yourself in German, answer simple questions about personal details, such as where you live, what your hobbies are or what you study. You will be able to interact with sympathetic listeners and speakers of German, for example, when shopping. This normally corresponds to a level of A1.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Task based learning strategies applied in group and team work, writing activities, listening activities and video analyses.

Assessment methods and criteria

Assessment is normally a combination of written assignments submitted and tests taken during the semester.
