Course content

In small groups, all students work on a project with environmental relevance. The students choose either a project with a primarily technical focus (environmental technology) or with an environmental-economic focus (environmental economics).


  •     Creativity techniques for brainstorming
  •     Agile and conventional methods of project management
  •     Methods of assessing ecological consequences in processes for product development and project management
  •     Methods of presentation and communication
Learning outcomes

The course imparts specialist and methodological skills (F/M) with regard to project-oriented work. The students are familiar with the challenge:

  •     to select and apply creativity methods for brainstorming on a concrete environmental task
  •     to select and apply conventional and agile project management methods in a reflective manner with regard to a concrete task
  •     to work through work packages according to a project plan, ensuring a balanced and appropriate distribution of work in a small group
  •     resolve conflict situations (time and content) constructively and effectively
  •     to document the results of their work, to prepare them in accordance with scientific formal criteria and to present them to a jury.

The joint discussion within the framework of project work also promotes social and communicative skills (S/K) and self-competence (S) to a high degree.

  •     Exchange between projects (presentations, team feedback)
Assessment methods and criteria

The grade is made up of an evaluation of the group and an assessment of the performance of the individuals.

  • Assessment of individual participation (20 %)
  • Evaluation of project work as a team according to a catalogue of criteria, especially self- and team organisation, division of work, time management and conflict resolution (30 %)
  • Evaluation of the results of the project work according to a catalogue of criteria, in particular quality of the results achieved, documentation, project report as well as presentation and communication of the work results as a team (50 %)
