International Staff Week 2025 at the FHV

08.01.2026
Around 30 experts from Europe and Asia met in Dornbirn at the beginning of December to discuss new perspectives and current topics relating to university internationalization and student mobility.

Under the theme "From Systems to Stories - Building smooth processes for students in internationalization and student services", the International Staff Week at the FHV offered a platform for professional exchange. The focus was on mobility processes, digitalization, service quality and intercultural cooperation in the university context.

The open dialog enabled participants to share best practices, get to know different university systems and gain new impetus for the further development of their own institution.

From application processes to Christmas markets

The thematic tracks of the Staff Week covered key topics in higher education internationalisation – from strategic partnerships, student mobility and digitalisation to application and admission processes and new learning formats such as microcredentials. The focus was on practical experience, innovative approaches and the use of digital tools and AI throughout the entire student life cycle.

The technical programme was complemented by a campus tour and joint activities, including a visit to the Dornbirn Christmas market. These informal formats offered valuable opportunities for networking, personal exchange and deepening existing international partnerships.

Voices from International Staff Week

The atmosphere of the week was also reflected in the feedback from participants:

‘I truly enjoyed the collective energy and open exchange at the FHV International Staff Week in Austria. The perfect blend of sessions and networking fostered new global connections and left me with renewed motivation and excitement for future international partnerships,’ summarised Sudhakar Kumarasamy from UMPSA, Malaysia.

Tia-Maria Sjöblom from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences (Finland) also emphasised the impact of the week: ‘I thoroughly enjoyed attending the staff week at FHV. The organisation and warm hospitality made the experience memorable, and I left feeling inspired with new ideas for my home university.’

Positive summary of the first Staff Week at FHV

The International Staff Week at FHV clearly showed that successful internationalisation thrives through personal exchange, trust and collaboration. FHV offers the perfect setting for this – regionally anchored and internationally networked.
