Data protection and information on the management of Alumni data

 

We treat your personal data with care and diligence. When processing data, we observe national and European data protection regulations.

Therefore, we would like to inform you about how your personal data is handled in the context of your use of the FHV Community Portal. In the FHV Community Portal, the data of all students and all alumni of FHV is stored in the form of a user profile. Consent is obtained for the inclusion of alumni in the FHV Community Portal. Each user can manage their data within the portal independently using their personal login credentials.

Categories of personal data
The personal data stored and processed by the FHV Community Portal includes, for example: names, contact details (address, email addresses), date of birth, personal photograph, barcode of the alumni card, bank account details, study programme, year of graduation, data on education and professional qualifications as specified in the portal (company/institution, CV, certificates, etc.), content data generated during the use of the portal (such as profile content including videos, photos, likes, comments, etc.), and other general usage data (IP address, login data, etc.).

Use of personal data
Your data is used for the delivery of email messages, for conducting the graduate survey every two years, for direct marketing purposes related to ALUMNI events or other similar events organised by FHV, and for sending the FHV Community Newsletter. This use is legitimised by the legitimate interests of FHV.

You may object to this processing at any time by sending an email to unsubscribe@fhv.at.
In such cases, the legality of the data processing carried out up to the point of objection remains unaffected. The collected data is used by FHV staff and is forwarded internally to the relevant departments.

The company IntraWorlds GmbH, Erika-Mann-Straße 7, D-80636 Munich, has access to your data as it provides the software application for the FHV Community Portal.

Storage and deletion
As the FHV Community Portal is currently used to maintain up-to-date (contact) information of our alumni, a portion of your personal data will be stored at FHV for 80 years in accordance with § 13(8) FHStG in conjunction with § 53 UG. This applies to the following categories of data: name, study programme, year of graduation, and barcode of the alumni card.

All other data can be edited and deleted by you at any time using your access (login) to the FHV Community Portal.

Other rights of data subjects
We would like to inform you that, with regard to your personal data, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, withdraw consent, and object to processing, in accordance with the applicable legal provisions.

If processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing datenschutz@fhv.at. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out before the withdrawal remains unaffected.

If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your data protection rights have otherwise been infringed, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority.
