In the Bachelor's degree in Computer Science - Digital Innovation, you will learn how to develop innovative, digital products and services in order to open up new markets and customer groups, solve Business Administration challenges and optimize business processes. The course focuses on Computer Science and Software Development, Business Administration and Innovation Management.
After completing this degree, you will be ideally prepared to enter the professional field of Computer Science and Business Informatics. In an increasingly digitalized Business and Management sector, your sound technical and economic knowledge and your innovative approaches to solutions are particularly in demand.

The course content for the 2025/2026 academic year:
The 180 ECTS are divided over six semesters - including compulsory subjects, electives and bachelor's thesis - as follows:
Elective area Computer Science: In semester 6, you choose 2 electives (5 ECTS each).
Elective area innovation: In semester 6, you choose 2 elective seminars (3 ECTS each)
ECTS: Credit points according to the "European Credit Transfer System". In accordance with international standards, 180 ECTS points must be earned over 6 semesters.

On-campus sessions at FHV, e-learning units, self-directed learning, and group and project work alternate throughout the course of study. We recommend reducing professional employment to 50–80%.
Lectures and examination dates take place:
- basically on two fixed days from 01:10 PM to 09:25 PM
Mobility window: Semester abroad possible in the 6th semester
Internship:
Two options:
- Credit transfer: The professional internship can be credited if relevant professional experience with at least six months of project work and a corresponding interim certificate can be provided. Since the training agreement for the 1st to 5th semesters provides for relevant professional experience, no additional professional internship is required.
- Completion: The professional internship must be completed in the 4th and 5th semesters or during the lecture-free period in between. It comprises 250 working hours, and proof of activity must be provided by the beginning of the 6th semester at the latest.
- Admission to the final oral examination:
- all courses in the curriculum must have been successfully completed (examination regulations and grading scale) and
- the Bachelor's thesis must have been graded positively.

The career prospects extend across almost all sectors - from trade to industry. Specialists in key positions such as Digital Project Manager, Software Developer, Digital Process Engineer, IT Manager:in or IT Consultant:in.
In addition, the degree qualifies you for an advanced master's degree in a university of applied sciences or university in Germany or abroad. At the FHV, we offer master's degree programmes in Computer Science, Business Informatics and Business Administration. Building on this, a doctorate or PhD course at a university is possible.

Access and application
The Bachelor's degree in Computer Science - Digital Innovation requires the following qualifications:
- General university entrance qualification, or
- Relevant professional qualification with additional examinations
For this degree programme, relevant professional qualifications include the completion of any apprenticeship or vocational secondary school programme with a training period of at least three years, or a comparable vocational qualification in terms of scope and requirements, which includes technical and/or commercial components in its curriculum.
The programme director decides whether a qualification is deemed relevant. Applicants with a relevant professional qualification must successfully complete the additional examinations at FHV.
For admission, proof of language proficiency at level B2 in both German and English (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is required.
As an application with less than 5 years of relevant work experience (IT or Business and Management) or no relevant or no work experience, you can complete a training agreement with a company. Since the training agreement is agreed for the duration of the 1st - 5th semester and you are therefore working in a relevant field, you do not have to complete any professional practical training.
The training agreement with the company must be concluded and submitted by the end of the application period at the latest. Proof of completion of the training agreement must be provided by the beginning of the 6th semester.

FHV's application periods are structured as follows:
Application Period I: 15 November – 1 March
Apply by 1 March to benefit from an early admission decision.
Application Period II: until 31 May
You can apply for all study programmes regularly until 31 May.
Application Period III: until 31 August
Some programmes may still offer individual places until 31 August.
Important information: The application deadline for applicants from third countries (non-EU/non-EEA, except Switzerland) is 1 March.

Special regulations: As a high school graduate from a higher vocational school (HTL, HAK), individual courses can be recognized individually during your studies. You will receive details about this in a discussion with the programme director.
