Information about studying at FHV
With the classic full-time study, studying takes up most of your time. Focused engagement with the subject area allows for “quick” completion. It is still possible to work a limited number of hours alongside your studies - depending on the course of study, semester and your own requirements.
The part-time model means that work and study are deliberately combined. Classes usually take place on Friday afternoons and Saturdays, either in person and/or in block sessions – depending on the programme. Reducing your workload to 50–70% is ideal, though this depends on your job, family situation and personal resilience.
The dual study model is a special form of part-time study, where theory and practice are closely linked: you learn the theory at FHV and apply your knowledge directly in a partner company. This combination allows you to deepen your practical experience and grow into your future role already during your studies.

At the FHV, students (including visiting students) are currently not charged any tuition fees. For the time being, the FHV will refrain from charging a tuition fee, but reserves the right to make use of the legal option, which can be exercised at any time and at its own discretion.
The ÖH fee for compulsory membership in the Austrian Students' Union (in the applicable amount) must be paid every semester. For the 2024/25 academic year, the ÖH contribution is 24.70 euros.
In addition to practice-oriented degree programmes and individual support, students at FHV benefit from many extra opportunities. The students’ union (ÖH FHV), for example, organises sports courses, cultural events, workshops and networking activities. This allows you to get involved, meet new people and make your time at university even more varied. Find out more here: ÖH FHV.
