What is the essence of your job as Head of Department and what fascinates you about it?

In my role as Head of Department, I am able to contribute to many strategic initiatives at the FHV, but even more important to me is the work in the department, the collaboration with my colleagues. In my role as a manager, I try to be a reliable point of contact. As knowledge workers, we enjoy a lot of freedom, but we are also required to stay on the ball. This constant opportunity for further development is one of the great advantages of working at the university.

Which trends in your field do you find particularly interesting and in which subject areas are you particularly involved?

Digitalisation is fundamentally changing the way we teach and learn - it's important for me to be involved in the latest developments here. The higher education landscape is also increasingly developing into a highly competitive environment in which many providers are competing for the best students. Cooperation with companies and organisations in the region is particularly relevant for me here.

What would you like to pass on to your students and what should they bring with them?

Students must have a willingness to achieve and be prepared to work carefully and think critically. I want them to realise that their degree does not put them above their peers, that they should have humility before the achievements of others and be willing to be lifelong learners.
