RUN-EU SAP "Eurovalues Nexus: Empowering European Citizens"

15.12.2025
The contact week of the Short Advanced Program (SAP) "Eurovalues Nexus: Empowering European Citizens" recently took place at the FHV. Thirty-five students and three lecturers from all RUN-EU partner universities took part in the second edition.

The great response was particularly pleasing: a total of 157 applications were received. "We are particularly pleased with this great interest," said the organizers Anja Sieghartsleitner from the International Office and Natasha Doshi from the Department of Design. After a four-week online phase, during which the students dealt intensively with European values and identity, the focus of the contact week was on specialization and practical experience around the topic of "empowerment".

Workshops and activities

In the "Faces of Europe" workshop, students explored the cultural diversity of Europe. With the help of interviews and conversations with the local population, they designed posters that impressively depicted diversity. The interactive presentations were informative and inspiring for all participants. Another highlight was the workshop with Martha Stüttler-Hartmann from Europe Direct, in which the students learned how to set up a citizens' initiative. The ideas put forward were varied and creative and reflected the critical thinking, values and attitudes of the group.

Highlight of the week

A particular highlight was the visit to the Vorarlberg state parliament and a discussion with Claudia Gamon, who spoke openly about her experiences as a former member of the European Parliament and her time in Brussels. Her insights helped the students to better understand the processes and recognize the importance of political education and engagement for young people.

"It was an intense but exciting five days. In addition to numerous new impressions, the participants will leave with valuable friendships and an intensive intercultural exchange. Team teaching with international colleagues is also very motivating and inspiring. In addition to new methods and tools, you can also learn a lot with - and from - each other. What's more, an SAP is always full of surprises and special moments," summarizes Natasha Doshi.

Voices of the participants

Juan Tejero Alonso (University of Burgos, Spain): "Participating in this SAP was a great opportunity for me to learn more about myself and to reflect on my values and identity as a young European citizen." Natalie Kopalova (University of Liberec, Czech Republic): "It was just wonderful to meet so many people and experience their culture - this really strengthened my feelings of being European."
