AI to assess the risk of hail damage

In order to be able to assess the risk of hail damage at an early stage, the FHV is working together with the VLV (Vorarlberger Landesversicherung) and the IBS (Institute for Fire Protection Technology and Safety Research) on an artificial intelligence model.
"We try to use AI methods and image recognition processes, i.e. aerial images, to recognize the materials with which the houses are covered," explains Thomas Steinberger, lecturer at the FHV. The materials also determine how high the hail resistance is, i.e. which hailstones the roofs can still withstand, Steinberger continues.
